This book lacks information for beginners. The stitches are not named so it is a bit confusing. I wish there was more explanation about the stitches and much longer directions. I also do not understand why all the even rounds are completely left out. I e-mailed the author and I have never heard from the author even though the author gives an e-mail and encourages contact. It also uses p1, p2, etc and gives no explanation what the abbreviations mean. For these reasons I had to give a bad review. There are diagrams, explanations of stitches, links to the explanations from within the instructions for each pattern; everything but photographs. This has a great kindle format, and uses the links to various parts of the book well and often, for those of us who need several reminders.Manuela (the author) uses different stitches than Bonnie Barker for the same Celtic patterns. After trying both, I definitely prefer Manuela's finished products. Her approach results in far fewer holes between rows and stitches, and this can even be seen, I now notice, from examples on the covers of books by the two authors. The drawback with this book is that there aren't patterns for specific products, merely instructions on how to make each Celtic pattern.I would not recommend this book for beginners as a whole. Beginners would have no problems with some of the patterns, but to do all of them, I would call this an intermediate level book.
